Practical course on BIOPHYSICS for foreign students of Veterinary medicine or Food Hygiene

INTRODUCTION AND BASIC INFORMATION

The aim of the practical course is to learn to work with some common laboratory instruments and get a principal laboratory skill. Students should have keep on mind that with these instruments they'll meet later on during their university studies or even in the practice. Consequently, they learn to work with them not only to get the credit for this course, but for their future skill as well.


PLAN FOR THE SEMESTR:
- the semestr consists of 7 weeks. In the 1th lesson students get principal information about the course, will be informed how to create protocols, and instructed about safety work and potencial risks in the lab of biophysics;
- then follow 5 weeks to carry out the experimental tasks;
- in the 6th lesson will be written a short credit-test;
- in the 7th lesson the last protocols will be checked, and who meets all requirements will get the credit.

NEEDS FOR THE PRACTICAL COURSE:
Working coat, protective overshoes or laboratory footwear, principal knowledge of the task measured, and the corresponding laboratory MANUAL.

DEMANDS FOR THE CREDIT:
- to participate in all practical lessons;
- 5 protocols checked and accepted;
- lab-book with 5 series of measurements each signed by the teacher;
- principal knowledge of the laboratory methods used.

DESIGN OF PROTOCOLS:

AT THE END OF A LESSON:
- fill the form LABORATORY RESULTS;
- finish your own copy of results, get it inspected and signed by the teacher;
- wash all laboratory instruments with tap water and rinse with deionized water;
- clean carefully your working place;
- do not forget to wash your hands before leaving the lab!
